About the author's family struggles caring for her father and tips for others
No time is better than now to learn more about Alzheimer's disease. It is the eighth leading cause of death in the elderly today. This book isn't just another story about a family dealing with Alzheimer's. The author hopes to educated people interested in being caregivers for others that have Alzheimer's. There are caregiver tips scattered throughout the book. Caregivers soon find that caring for a loved one with this disease is a difficult and long, weary process. In this book, you will be able to follow Bill Bullock's ten year battle as chronicled in his daughter's journal. What Alzheimer's did to Bill is the same symptoms others will have so caregivers already taking care of someone can see that they are not alone. Though it feels like it when the caregiver is isolated in the home for days with a loved one that needs help sometimes twenty-four/seven. In this book you can see how Alzheimer's affected Bill and what his family did to help him. With all that Alzheimer's tossed Bill's way as he and his family struggled to keep this disease from taking Bill away from them, his wife, Sylvia, stands out for her strength, courage and determination to take care of Bill in their home to the very end and against all odds.

Hello! I'm Fay Risner and I go by booksbyfay when I post. I've enjoyed writing about the life of Nurse Hal while she struggles to understand Amish life. My books are made to give you a look into the Amish community and offer some humor along with the serious moments. Along with these books, I write a historical mystery series set in Iowa and westerns. Also, I have two books about Alzheimer's disease. I worked for many years in a local nursing home and helped my mother care for my father which gave me insight to what caregivers deal with. Switching genres when an idea comes to me gives me flexibility as a writer. Though I love to write, my husband and I live on an acreage with sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits and cats and enjoy raising a large garden and flowers. For fun past times, we go fishing in the summer and read a lot in the winter.
