Boy seeks men who killed his parents, taking him on Old West odyssey
A most unique Western saga in that it incorporates actual historical people, places and events into the fabric of the story. A 15-year-old boy sees two cowboy killers gun down his parents at his family's West Texas ranch in 1865 and he vows to revenge their deaths. He works hard to develop riding, roping and shooting skills while living with his uncle and when he reaches age 19 he sets out to find the killers, wearing a silver-plated gun given him by his brother. He finds trouble along the way as gunslingers confront him at several cities. He kills two men who try to outgun him and earns the nickname The Quicksilver Kid. His fame grows as he continues his quest, with several men dying from his guns. He joins a cattle drive on The Chisholm Trail, survives a cattle stampede, faces a showdown with the killers of his parents, survives an Indian kidnapping and joins up with a black man to help overcome Ku Klux Klan killers. There is a surprise ending as he nears the completion of his quest. The story is unique in that it incorporates large segments of reality. Real sheriffs and historical figures (Bear River Smith, Wild Bill Kickok, Belle Starr, etc.), real streets, real saloons, real hotels, real newspapers. real businessmen and real time frames throughout.
