Animal Poetry by James Larkin
Publication date: 01/03/2017
An unusual Animal Poetry book
Something unusual for a book of poetry because as well as poems by the author it includes his comments on animal welfare and the environment. Both poetry and comment draw attention to constant and extensive worldwide animal cruelty, torture and slaughter and calls for more compassion and empathy. Larkin is an active animal rights and environment protection supporter. He campaigns regularly on Facebook, Twitter and his blog against animal cruelty and industrialised meat production and dairy farming. His poems try to draw attention to the intelligence and sentient feelings of animals. Such feelings - like ours - include happiness and joy, pain and fear and love. His short poems try to draw attention to loving all other life and being part of it rather than destroying it.
