Growing old need not signal the end of one’s productivity or loss of home.
Growing old need not signal the end of one’s productivity nor represent a threat to leave one’s home. Anne R. Rachin's heartwarming new book is a roadmap for how we can achieve this hopeful goal for our aging loved ones.

“I was a Nurse but . . . my Dad . . . wanted to die in his own home . . . . How quickly my sorrow gave way to peace when Dad looked in my eyes and said, 'Thank you,' before he slipped  away. In this book, Anne gives all of us the knowledge to gain that same peace for our parents.”—Donna Martin, RN, home care supervisor.

Growing old should neither signal the end of one’s productivity nor represent a threat to leave one’s home. Yet most individuals rarely consider their choices or discuss long term care until mired in medical crisis. Home care, a viable, cost effective option, is seldom promoted.

ALL THAT'S FAMILIAR offers a practical, hands-on guide demonstrating how in-home care provides assistance with daily living tasks, enabling individuals to remain in the familiar comfort of their own home.

“ . . . I wish I'd had Rachin's book when trying to navigate the ins and outs of home care for both my 90-year-old father and my paraplegic husband.—Gail Mangurian, South Shore, Massachusetts.

“ . . . I thoroughly enjoyed her heartwarming stories which illustrate how home care services are vital for many seniors … and how these services can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual. I encourage anyone to read this book!”—Kathy Spameni, primary caregiver.

'Rachin tackles the sensitive subject of caring for the elderly with a professional, yet compassionate voice. This book opened my eyes to the fact that living out the last years of one’s life with dignity is best done in one’s own home. Period.'—Jen Forcino, critic for the paper 'Brooklynville' Brooklyn, NY.

“This book [is] a hopeful vision for us all as we begin to consider how to manage the best interests of our aging loved ones . . . . 'Aging In Place' offers an option that reclaims dignity and real personal choice for seniors and their families.”—Nicole Conneally, Chepachet, RI.

Anne R. Rachin has been a home care administrator for the past thirty years, owning Ideal Home Care in North Providence, RI with her husband, Barry.  A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, she counseled in a community clinic and worked with veterans returning home from Vietnam, before finding her niche in the field of Gerontology.  She has dedicated her career to assisting individuals in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts to remain living at home with independence and dignity.

During this time, Anne, her administrative staff and caregivers have participated in community programs such as Make a Difference Day, collecting and shipping emergency supplies in the aftermath of 9/11, and supporting our military troops and their loved ones.  The focus has always been the significance of home and family.

Using a percentage of proceeds from this book, Anne’s dream is to implement an ‘animeals’ program for seniors in need of food for their pets. All That’s Familiar is her first book.  Anne resides in Massachusetts with her husband, two daughters and two dogs. Write some words about the new author!
