DNA Chip Build in PCB Technology

DNA detection has become a standard tool in medicine and forensic. The steps for the DNA extraction, multiplication and detection are well known but costly and time consuming. The build of automated systems in the micro scale is needed. In this paper a DNA chip is presented which is fully built using PCB technology. The chip includes the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and an electrochemical detection of DNA sequences. Standard PCB technology is used to integrate channels, heaters, electrochemical cells and electronic parts for controlling and identification. The entire production process is mass production compatible which makes a high volume production possible.
