Sustainability is the buzzword of the twenty-first century. While people arguing for ecological sustainability might not have been taken seriously a few years ago, this has changed today. Society becomes more open towards sustainability: While a global agreement for the climate was inconceivable in the last century, we now have the Paris Agreement.
The need for sustainability becomes especially clear when looking at the impacts the climate change already has nowadays. The world has experienced a global heatwave in the summer 2018 and various weather extremes can be observed. Scientists predict that climate change impacts will increase in the upcoming years. This raises the question of how to react.
This thesis focuses on what companies can do to prevent climate change. Looking at the status today, companies still operating unsustainable exist as well as global leaders already operating sustainable for years. The question of how companies can make a success out of their transformation into being ecologically sustainable will be answered in this thesis.
